Seal of Quality marks Barbara Jacobs & Co's Fourth Year of Growth

A quality standard mark for residential conveyancing practices, the accreditation provides reassurance to buyers and sellers on the integrity, good practice and high service from their conveyancing professional.  Established by the Law Society to encourage and develop higher standards across the sector.

Law Society President John Wotton said: "Buying a home is one of the largest purchases anyone will make in their lifetime, so it is essential that it is done to the highest standard by a solicitor. There are many different conveyancing service providers out there, making it difficult for home buyers to identify those which can ensure a safe and efficient level of service.  CQS improves efficiency with common, consistent standards and service levels and enables consumers to recognise practices that provide a quality residential conveyancing service.”

The scheme requires practices to undergo a strict assessment, compulsory training, self-reporting, random audits and annual reviews in order to maintain CQS status. It is open only to members of the Law Society who meet the demanding standards set by the scheme and has the support of the Council of Mortgage Lenders, the Building Societies Association, Legal Ombudsman and the Association of British Insurers.

Barbara commented: ““I was delighted to be awarded this accreditation, underlining the way we like to do business and how we work to keep improving our conveyancing services.”

To further mark the firm’s fourth anniversary Barbara Jacobs & Co is supporting several events over the forthcoming months in and around York, including this year’s Micklegate Singers’ 50th Concert Season; the Poppleton Artists’ Exhibition at the Tithe Barn and young people’s travel awareness charity Caroline’s Rainbow Foundation’s 10th anniversary dinner at the Royal York Hotel on 8th September.

“My husband and I had been looking for a new home for around 9 months. We finally found the house we wanted however the deal was that we had to complete in approximately 4 weeks so we needed a solicitor who could make this happen.

I had met Barbara at networking events and she came highly recommended. We instructed her to act for us and I was impressed with her expertise. She considered every eventuality that we would need including in the contract and got the seller to change quite a few clauses to suit and protect us. Overall the whole purchase went very smoothly and we were highly delighted with Barbara’s service.

I would highly recommend Barbara and have actually done so already. Having moved into our new home, next door was then sold and we gave the new purchasers Barbara’s details. They have also now completed and were happy with the service they received.

So if you’re thinking of moving home think ‘Barbara Jacobs’ - she does a fantastic job!”
